Gulkana met its GII egg-take goal on August 10.
GI egg-take began on August 23 and is 1% complete. There is a solid showing of fish staged at the Paxson Lake inlet that will hopefully make their way to the hatchery springs in the coming weeks.

Armin F. Koernig Hatchery
It is estimated AFK has the number of fish required for egg-take available as brood. Egg-take will begin on 8/26. Staff estimate there are additional fish available to supplement WNH if necessary.
Wally Noerenberg Hatchery
To date there continues to be insufficient fish available for brood. However, limited new run entry has been identified over the past several days. Egg-take began today with 40% female and low immature and over mature numbers.
Cannery Creek Hatchery
It is estimated that CCH has the number of fish required for egg-take available as brood. Egg-take will begin on 8/29.
PWSAC is approximately 58.4% complete with the pink revenue goal. At this time, due to limited run entry, cost recovery efforts have been suspended to ensure sufficient brood is collected to support meeting the egg-take goals.

Cost recovery took place yesterday with an average weight of 3.1 pounds and a female percentage of 56%.
Brood collection began on 8/14. Staff estimates that the hatchery has its brood stock goal available in front of the hatchery. Brood collection and cost recovery are assessed daily.
Wally Noerenberg Hatchery
Brood collection began on 8/14. To date there are an estimated 75,000 fish behind the barrier seine available as brood. Run entry is currently only supporting brood collection.
Brood collection at WNH remains below expectations. PWSAC is consulting with ADF&G on implementing collection of more fish available as brood at AFK to potentially collect eggs for WNH.
Cannery Creek Hatchery
Cost recovery took place yesterday with an average weight of 3.1 pounds and female percent daily average of 37%. Sampling near the end of the day averaged 50% female.
Brood collection began on 8/16. To date there are an estimated 240,000 fish available as brood. Brood collection and cost recovery are assessed daily.
PWSAC is approximately 58.4% complete with the pink revenue goal. A total of 437,000 pounds, primarily from CCH, were caught yesterday for cost recovery.

Cost recovery took place yesterday with an average weight of 3.2 pounds and a female percentage of 44%.
Brood collection began on 8/14. Currently, there are around 240,000 fish available as brood. Brood collection and cost recovery is assessed daily.

Brood collection began on 8/14. Currently, there are about 22,000 fish behind the barrier seine available as brood. Run entry remains difficult to assess as there is little to no show as they enter the bay. Run entry is currently only supporting brood collection.

Wally Noerenberg Hatchery met its chum egg-take goal on 7/20. Way to go WNH! The average female percentage during egg-take was 48%.
Main Bay Hatchery completed its broodstock goal on 7/5 and sockeye egg-take operations will begin around 8/1.
Gulkana will start securing its brood this week and plans to begin sockeye egg-take operations the week of 8/5.

PWSAC has suspended cost recovery for WNH Chum due to insufficient run entry. PWSAC plans to collect brood and evaluate run entry on a daily basis in an effort to restart cost recovery. As of today, PWSAC estimates 15,000 brood have been collected.
Sockeye cost recovery took place yesterday with a harvest of 153,000 pounds. Cost recovery continues today, PWSAC is 39.8% complete with its Chum/Sockeye revenue goal.

As of today, PWSAC has suspended cost recovery for WNH Chum due to insufficient run entry. At this time, PWSAC is prioritizing brood collection as most recent female percent was 40%. PWSAC plans to collect brood and evaluate run entry on a daily basis in an effort to restart cost recovery.
Sockeye cost recovery was completed yesterday. However, due to the shortfall on chums to date, additional sockeye was bid out and harvest will begin today.
June 24, 2024
PWSAC conducted cost recovery at WNH yesterday with a total harvest of 130,000 pounds and an average fish size of 6.2 pounds. Preliminary information is that female % has increased over the last harvest day. Waiting on final results from the off load. Staff are reporting marginal activity today in the THA after yesterday’s harvest.
Cost recovery is expected to be completed at MBH today, the most recent average fish size was 5.3 pounds. The last female percent available was 36%.
As of today, PWSAC is 31.7% complete with the chum/sockeye cost recovery revenue goal.

PWSAC has paused cost recovery at WNH due to limited run entry, staff will monitor run entry and cost recovery will begin as soon as sufficient fish are available to harvest. Cost recovery continues at MBH with an average fish size of 5.3 pounds. The most recent female percentage at MBH is 32%. As of today, PWSAC is 22.4% complete with the chum/sockeye cost recovery revenue goal.

Cost recovery continues at MBH with an average fish size of 5.4 pounds and strong run entry. The most recent female % from MBH was 30%. As of today, PWSAC is 19.7% complete with the chum/sockeye cost recovery revenue goal.

Cost recovery continues at MBH with an average fish size of 5.5 pounds and strong run entry. As of today, PWSAC is 16.9% complete with the chum/sockeye cost recovery revenue goal.

PWSAC was unable to conduct cost recovery at WNH yesterday for the second day. No new run entry was observed by staff or the harvesting vessel. Staff and the harvesting vessels both surveyed the subdistrict and neither identified sufficient fish to conduct a harvest. Cost recovery continues at MBH with an average fish size of 5.4 pounds and strong run entry. As of today, PWSAC is 14.1% complete with the chum/sockeye cost recovery revenue goal.

Cost recovery was conducted at MBH yesterday with an average fish size of 5.6 pounds. MBH cost recovery will continue today. Run entry was limited throughout the day, and early morning estimates of fish available to harvest are limited. Cost recovery was conducted at MBH yesterday with an average fish size of 5.5 pounds. As of today, PWSAC is 8.4% complete with the chum/sockeye cost recovery goal.

PWSAC did not conduct cost recovery at WNH yesterday due to insufficient run entry. Cost recovery will take place today at WNH. Cost recovery at MBH started yesterday with the first harvest and an average fish size of 5.2 pounds. As of today, PWSAC is 6.2% complete with the chum/sockeye cost recovery goal.

PWSAC conducted cost recovery at WNH yesterday. As of today, cost recovery is 5.7% complete. The average chum size was 6.7 pounds. Due to limited fish availability, cost recovery at WNH is paused for the day. At MBH, fish counts have been increasing over the last two days, the harvesting vessel is on site and will harvest if sufficient fish are available.
