Temporary Staff Positions

Fisheries Technicians, Levels I – V:  For those individuals interested in working with fish and gaining hands-on experience at a remote salmon hatchery, we have employment opportunities beginning March and throughout the 2017 season.   Fish Technicians perform duties which include facility repair and maintenance, fish rearing, harvest, egg take; to summarize, general hatchery labor with an Alaskan experience.   Wages range begins with $10.00 per hour DOE with free room and board in modern, dorm-style facilities.  APPLY NOW

Food Service Cooks, Levels I – III:  We are accepting applications for commissary positions.  Commissary staff prepares 3 meals/day, plus break time treats, utilizing a 4 week rotating menu. Daily cleaning of the kitchen and cafeteria common areas, plus routine clean-up of freezers and refrigerators are included duties. Maintenance Technicians:  These technicians work closely with the hatchery maintenance staff in broad areas of preventative and routine maintenance, repair and improvement to the facilities, equipment and the various hatchery systems such as electrical, plumbing, and heating.  Qualifications include one year hands-on repair and maintenance experience, basic knowledge of carpentry, and a mechanical aptitude. Cordova Office Positions

Staff Accountant: The primary responsibility is to accurately process and maintain all records for payroll functions, assist the accounts payable staff, and respond to requests for financial information.  Duties include but not limited to: process corporate payroll including electronic payroll and tax reporting; data entry and compilation of weekly hours for payroll preparation; prepare monthly, quarterly and year-end reports; assist with annual audits; perform accounts payable functions as requested; and respond to requests for financial information.

Qualifications:

Wages and Benefits: DOE with hourly wage range beginning with $16.00.  Benefit package includes health and life insurance, annual leave, 403(b) retirement vehicle, and relocation assistance.

Hatchery Full-time Regular Positions

Gulkana Hatchery Manager: This top hatchery management position ensures the efficient operation and administration of this sockeye salmon hatchery located in inland Alaska near the headwaters of the Gulkana River. Duties include the full responsibility of hatchery operations, preparation of comprehensive reports and the facility budget, consulting with a variety of professionals to resolve problems in hatchery operations, disease control, and research and management projects.

Qualifications:

Assistant Hatchery Manager: This position functions in a full assistant to the Hatchery Manager in the operation of the fish hatchery. The position has a broad range of responsibilities for fish culture, fish harvest and hatchery maintenance, along with scheduling and supervising the seasonal fish technician staff.  Administrative responsibilities include assisting with operation planning and budgets, supply procurement and ordering.

Fish Culturists: Fish Culturists function as part of the hatchery operations team in the cultivating and rearing of fish.  Under supervision, initiates, supervises and performs technical field, lab or office work or directs minor segments of hatchery operations.  Duties include but not limited to: fish propagation and harvest; sampling from commercial fisheries catches; organizes, collects and presents data for reports; general maintenance and repair; maintains and adjusts water supplies to incubation and rearing units.

Anchorage Office Positions

Hatchery Support Assistant Manager:

This individual in the Anchorage office functions primarily in the purchasing and receiving activities in support of the remote salmon hatcheries in Prince William Sound, working closely with and under the direction of the Hatchery Support Manager.

Accuracy and multi-tasking are necessary abilities for the timely processing of purchase orders from initial request through completion and for all other tasks of the position.

Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree with a major in business administration and two years work experience in purchasing, receiving and inventory control; or four years of progressively responsible work experience in purchasing.  Must have a current driver’s license and pass a pre-employment drug test.

Wages and Benefits: Hourly wage range begins at $21, DOE, benefit package includes health and life insurance, generous annual leave accrual, housing and relocation assistance.
