Temporary Staff Positions

Fisheries Technicians, Levels I – V:  Fish Technicians perform duties which include facility repair and maintenance, fish rearing, harvest, egg take; to summarize, general hatchery labor with an Alaskan experience.   Wages range begins with $10.00 per hour DOE with free room and board in modern, dorm-style facilities.  APPLY NOW

Food Service Cooks, Levels I – III:  We are accepting applications for commissary positions.  Commissary staff prepares 3 meals/day, plus break time treats, utilizing a 4 week rotating menu. Daily cleaning of the kitchen and cafeteria common areas, plus routine clean-up of freezers and refrigerators are included duties. Maintenance Technicians:  These technicians work closely with the hatchery maintenance staff in broad areas of preventative and routine maintenance, repair and improvement to the facilities, equipment and the various hatchery systems such as electrical, plumbing, and heating.  Qualifications include one year hands-on repair and maintenance experience, basic knowledge of carpentry, and a mechanical aptitude. Human Resources Recruiter:  The Human Resource Recruiter functions as part of the human resources team in the developing and implementing recruiting plans and strategies designed to fulfill the temporary employee staffing needs.  Duties include: develop recruiting requirements according to staffing needs; develop and initiate recruiting plans to identify and attract a talented workforce; oversee and conduct candidate screening, interviews, and reference checks, recommend candidates and placement.

Hatchery Full-time Regular Positions

Assistant Hatchery Manager: This position functions in a full assistant to the Hatchery Manager in the operation of the fish hatchery. The position has a broad range of responsibilities for fish culture, fish harvest and hatchery maintenance, along with scheduling and supervising the seasonal fish technician staff.  Administrative responsibilities include assisting with operation planning and budgets, supply procurement and ordering.

Fish Culturist II: Fish Culturists function as part of the hatchery operations team in the cultivating and rearing of fish.  Under supervision, initiates, supervises and performs technical field, lab or office work or directs minor segments of hatchery operations.  Duties include but not limited to: fish propagation and harvest; sampling from commercial fisheries catches; organizes, collects and presents data for reports; general maintenance and repair; maintains and adjusts water supplies to incubation and rearing units.

Anchorage Office Positions

Hatchery Support Manager:

The Hatchery Support Manager has three basic functions: 1) to ensure that the most effective and efficient methods are used, given available resources, to produce and release healthy salmon stocks for all user groups within Area E, 2) to manage all purchasing, shipping, and receiving activities of the Corporation, and 3) to work on a daily basis with the General Manager, members of the top management team and office staff to carry out the directives of the Board. This position is one of the top management positions within the PWSAC.

Qualifications:

This position requires a minimum of 6 years experience in managing large-scale salmon hatcheries.

Working knowledge of new and innovative salmon culture techniques, material and equipment.

Incumbent must be able to demonstrate well-developed supervisory, management skills and abilities.

Strong negotiation and communication skills with suppliers and vendors.

Strong working knowledge of accounting, budgeting and related fiscal matters is needed.

Thorough working knowledge of purchasing policies, processes and procedures.

Familiarity with computer hardware and software is needed, including: spreadsheet and word processing software.

Strong corporate, strategic and operational planning experience.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including: ability to communicate professionally with people throughout the organization and external contacts.

Must have a current driver’s license and pass a pre-employment drug test.

Wages and Benefits: Range begins at $60,000/year; DOE, benefit package includes health and life insurance, generous annual leave accrual, and relocation assistance.
