Remote Salmon Hatchery

Fisheries Technicians: Fish Technicians perform duties which include facility repair and maintenance, fish rearing, harvest, egg take; to summarize, general hatchery labor with an Alaskan experience. 

Fish Technician employment opportunities are available from February to November with varying project lengths and dates. Wages range begins with $10.00 per hour DOE with free room and board in modern, dorm-style facilities.

Food Service Cooks:  Commissary staff prepares 3 meals/day, plus break time treats, utilizing a 4 week rotating menu. Daily cleaning of the kitchen and cafeteria common areas, plus routine clean-up of freezers and refrigerators are included duties. Must have an Alaska Food Worker’s Card.

Maintenance Technicians The Maintenance Technicians work closely with the hatchery maintenance staff in broad areas of preventative and routine maintenance, repair and improvement to the facilities, equipment and the various hatchery systems such as electrical, plumbing, and heating. Preferred qualifications include safe operation of hand and power tools, repair and maintenance experience, and a mechanical aptitude.

Remote Salmon Hatchery

 

Hatchery Manager

Responsibilities:  Manage all aspects of operations and fish productions a one of the largest salmon hatcheries in North America, located in remote Alaska in the scenic Prince William Sound. Administrative duties of this position include direction of all phases of fish production, participation in long range planning for facility improvement, budget development, preparation of comprehensive reports and studies, as well as management of on-site staff. The facility incubates 305 million eggs among a variety of salmon species including Pink, Chum, Coho and Chinook, making for a dynamic work environment.

Qualifications:

Responsibilities:  The Assistant Hatchery Manager has a broad range of responsibilities for fish culture, fish harvest and hatchery maintenance. The assistant is also the front-line supervisor of the hatchery fish technician staff.  Administrative responsibilities include assisting the manager in the planning, budgeting, documenting, assessing and improving hatchery operations.

Basic Function: The Distribution Center Receiving Clerk/Truck Driver functions as part of the hatchery support team in the purchasing, shipping, receiving, and distribution activities of the Corporation. Under general supervision by the Hatchery Support Manager, performs work in various phases of hatchery support and operation of the Anchorage Distribution Center.

Primary Responsibilities: The responsibilities of the position include assisting the Purchasing Manager in the purchasing, shipping, receiving, and distribution activities of the Anchorage Distribution Center; and transporting freight to and from the barge landing sites and vendor locations.

Primary Responsibilities: The responsibilities of the position include assisting the Hatchery Support Manager or Assistant Hatchery Support manager in the purchasing, shipping, receiving, and distribution activities of the Anchorage Distribution Center; and assembling all corresponding shipping and receiving documentation.
