Temporary Staff Positions

Fisheries Technicians:  We continue to accept applications for the 2014 season.  Summer positions are filling up quickly, though many positions remain for the most exciting project of the season – egg take! – beginning in mid-August.  Hatchery duties cover a broad range of responsibilities which include facility repair and maintenance, fish rearing, harvest, egg take; to summarize – general hatchery labor with an Alaskan experience.   Please complete and submit our application including the dates you are available to work.  Wages begin at $9.50 per hour with free room and board in modern, dorm-style facilities.  A fisheries, biology or similar degree is preferred but not required.  APPLY NOW

Maintenance Technicians:  Seasonal technicians work closely with the hatchery Maintenance staff in broad areas of preventative and routine maintenance, repair and improvement to the facilities, equipment and the various hatchery systems such as electrical, plumbing, and heating. Applicants would have one year hands-on repair and maintenance experience, basic knowledge of carpentry, and be mechanically inclined. Commissary Positions:
Assistant Cooks:  Under the Lead cook’s supervision, Assistant Cooks prep for 3 meals per day, preparing at least one meal per day, and filling in on the Lead Cook’s day off; they are responsible for daily cleaning of the kitchen and common areas, plus routine clean-up of freezers and refrigerators. Must have an Alaska Food Worker’s Card. Wages begin at $11.50/hour.  APPLY NOW

Hatchery Manager:
Responsibilities: Year-round management duties include operation of hatchery production, supervision of personnel, coordination of construction projects, and liaison with public and general administration.

Qualifications:

Wages and Benefits: DOE, annual salary range begins at $51,000. Generous benefit package includes company-provided housing with utilities, health insurance, life insurance, generous annual leave accrual, retirement plan and relocation assistance.

Assistant Hatchery Manager:
Responsibilities: A supporting role to the Hatchery Manager, responsibilities are to assist in the development and implementation of hatchery operational plans.  Duties cover a broad range and include caring for broodstock and aspects of egg care, monitoring and maintaining various fish culture systems and equipment, collecting and recording fish harvest data, assessing and assisting in hatchery maintenance, helping prepare the annual budget, coordinating worksite coverage and supervision of temporary staff.

Qualifications:

Wages and Benefits: DOE, annual salary range begins at $43,000. Generous benefit package includes company-provided housing with utilities, health insurance, life insurance, generous annual leave accrual, retirement plan and relocation assistance.

Maintenance Assistant:
Responsibilities: The Maintenance Assistant functions as part of a 2-person team in carrying out year-round, 24-hour a day when necessary, preventative maintenance and repair duties necessary for the efficient operation of the overall hatchery facilities and equipment. The Maintenance Assistant works closely with the Maintenance Supervisor in the broad areas of preventative and routine maintenance, repair and improvement to the facilities, equipment and systems. Also assists in fish culture and harvest operations.
Requirements:

Wages and Benefits: DOE, Salary range begins at $15.00/hour. Generous benefit package includes company-provided housing with utilities, health insurance, life insurance, generous annual leave accrual, retirement plan and relocation assistance.
